Previously on the Cash Legacy…
Haven is broke and homeless after being scammed.

She meets the handsome but mysterious bartender, Don.

And he takes her out on a surprise date.

Chapter 1.2: Make Sweet Memories
A Lounge in Moodwayers
Haven kind of wished that Don had outright asked her out because then, she would have put a little more effort into her outfit. But at the same time, she was glad that he didn’t because they skipped the usual first date nervousness.

They sat at a table in the far corner of the lounge, away from all the other people.
Don finally made his feelings clears to Haven and she was glad. He liked her too.

Don stood up and asked Haven to dance with him, this time for real. He gently held both her hands and led her away from the table to a slow dance.

The way his perfect green eyes met with hers, she was finding it very difficult to look at him without blushing silly so she put her head on his shoulder as they danced.

Boldly, she leaned in to kiss his cheek but at the last second, he turned a certain way and their lips met.

Don was stunned. He always pictured Haven as a modest person that would ask permission for everything.

Suddenly, he stepped back staying, “Wow, Haven, I… I didn’t think you had it in you.”

“Oh, I’m sorry.” Haven embarrassedly replied.

“Oh, no, that’s not what I meant.” Don said, “Can we go somewhere private?”
Haven nodded.
The pair went to a secluded balcony. It was a beautiful night, perfect weather, and the stars twinkled above.
As soon as they got out there, Don slipped his arms around Haven and gingerly pulled her into a kiss.

After a while, Don broke away from the kiss. He had a question for Haven and from the look on his face, he was obviously nervous.
“How would you like— will you be my—”
“Girlfriend?” Haven asked. Don nodded shyly.

“Yes, of course!” Haven excitedly replied.

“Great! Hey, we should take a picture together. This is our first date.” Haven suggested before wiping out her phone for a series of couple-selfies.

The two of them headed back inside a little later. Don insisted on a drink or two, although the lounge was pricey, and Haven wanted to dance again.
She was really enjoying Don’s company and his shower of compliments.

Eventually, it was time to go home. Although it was a little far, Don decided to walk Haven home so that they could spend more time together.

It seemed with each passing moment, Don’s liking for Haven grew.

Perfect in each other’s eyes, could it be true love?

Anyone who knew Haven well enough would know that whenever she was elated, a bowl of animal cracks would be nearby.
After her date with Don, she had a big bowl of animal cracks before tucking into bed.

After that night, everything seemed to blossom in Haven’s life. The harvest from her little garden was starting to make enough money for her to not have to dig for valuables.

Her guitar playing was improving and she even learned to sing and play at the same time.
As for songwriting, Don gave her plenty of inspiration for love songs.

Whenever she was out of lyrics, all she had to do was give Don a call.
They would talk on the phone for ages and when they ran out of minutes, they met up no matter how hectic the work day was.

The couple never had a formal date until after three months together. The bar where Don worked hosted a special couple’s night so he took Haven there on his employee discount.
That day, Haven put on her best formal dress. Don too dressed his best and the two of them spent about a minute just admiring each other before heading in the bar.

Amira was there for some reason, lurking around. She didn’t have a date and in fact she was alone.

Haven felt a little sorry for her friend so she called Amira over to her and Don. Upon introducing Amira, Don seemed very uncomfortable. Haven didn’t understand why.

Don eventually got himself and Haven away from Amira, whose presence was making him nervous, for reasons only he knew.
Left to be once again, Haven decided it was time to show Don a song she wrote for him. In front of everyone, Haven sung the song, written in a special little notebook, and Don enjoyed it very much. Amira had her back turned to them but from where Don was standing, he could see how envious she was.

Later in the day, Don took Haven upstairs to a balcony that had a lovely view of town.

Haven asked, “Why are we up here?”
All she took notice of was two benches. She was never one to stop and admire at scenery unless she was in thought about something else.

Don swopped behind her. When she turned around to face him, he was down on one knee, one hand hidden behind his back. He reached for her hand and she gasped as she realized what was happening.

Typical of Don, he didn’t know how to ask the question as he presented a ring in a box that was in his other hand, “Can I, umm… I would like to… Will you—”
“Yes!” Haven blurted out without a second thought.
Only after he put the ring on her finger did she think that maybe they were rushing things a little.
They barely knew each other but to Haven, Don seemed like a nice guy and she didn’t want to lose him so she said “yes,” And hopped for the best.

They sat on a bench together, enthusing over the “progress of their love”. Haven could already picture the type of wedding she wanted – a flowery garden with a big blue wedding arch, thick blue ribbons all around, a fountain, and a four tier cake.
Don was more than okay with just a private ceremony and a beer fountain.

To remember the special day, the pair took plenty of pictures together, much to Haven’s delight.

When Haven got home, the first thing she did was fix a huge bowl of animal cracks.

Things just kept getting better for Haven. She couldn’t help but wonder if it was all just building up to one horrible event. The last time she was so happy, she got scammed into buying an empty lot.
Nevertheless, Haven enjoyed the constant wave of happiness. Months went by, her house grew (it finally had four complete walls), and a wedding date was set.

Work was going well too and Haven got promoted to C-Lister. She didn’t have a regular band yet but she got a number of gigs playing guitar and singing backing vocals for various artists.

Of course, the happier she got the more animal cracks she ate.

On Don’s side, things weren’t going too well for him at work. There were rumors of employees drinking on the job so business was slow and Don wasn’t making enough tips. As a result, Don didn’t have much money so it was up to Haven to cover the costs of the wedding.

They didn’t let their finances ruin their relationship bliss though. Don and Haven kept the long phone calls going, often at odd hours, resulting in one or both of them being late for work.

But nothing could keep them from their midweek dates or Don’s frequent visits often late at night, which Haven especially enjoyed.

By the time the wedding day came, everything Don owned (which could fit in one small suitcase) was already at Haven’s house.
On the lawns of the local museum, the wedding area was set up just as Haven wanted it to be, and the lovely couple were more than ready to say the vows that would hopefully mean something change their lives forever.
